Vigo (Santiago de Compostela), Spain
Located in the southwest corner of Spain known as Galacia, the densely populated city of Vigo receives more sunshine and less rainfall than the entire area's annual average. Ancient Romans enjoyed the mild climate and established the surrounding region as a bathing resort. Today, this coastal port city abounds with gardens, pinewoods and wild flowers in all seasons, and the inhabitants' Celtic roots are marked by folk legends and bagpipe celebrations.
Santiago de Compostela
A city dedicated to honoring Saint James the Apostle, or Santiago as they call him, pilgrims flocked here from all of Europe enduring years of travel and hundreds of miles. The city itself has been declared a national monument.
El Castro
Built by Philip IV, this impressive fortress offers sweeping views of both Vigo's bay and the city.
