Ouvea, Loyalty Islands
Ouvea is unofficially said to be ‘the closest island to paradise’ and is one of the Pacific’s most exquisite coral atolls. It is famous for Fayaoué Beach, a 25-kilometre-long strip of fine, powdery-white sand fringed by tall palms and a turquoise lagoon.
La Grotte de Cong-ouloup Cave
Ouvea also boasts a glorious limestone cave - La Grotte de Cong-ouloup, freshwater swimming holes and excellent diving and fishing sites.
Local Traditions
Kanak traditions are well preserved in the Loyalty Islands. A guided tour of the island will give you a great understanding of this fascinating Melanesian Culture.
