Tuamotu Atolls, French Polynesia (Scenic Criusing)
The Tuamotu Archipelago forms the Earth's largest group of atolls. There are 74 atolls in all: three low coral islands, one raised coral island and one large island-barrier reef. From Mataiva in the north to Temoe in the far south, this archipelago forms a loose chain stretching northwesterly to southeasterly across the South Pacific for more than a mile.
The variety of atolls adds to the scenic landscape, many of which have delicate, almost perfectly circular rings of coral that sit over extinct underwater volcanoes. The atolls of Tuamotu are some of the largest and most impressive in the world.
Niau and Anuanurunga
These natural wondrous formations are two of the circular-type atolls.
Mururoa and Rangiroa
These are two of the larger atolls that possess a unique elongated structure.
