The small village of Hellesylt is an old Viking port located at the head of the Sunnylvenfjord on the northwest coast of Norway. Here, glacier-fed streams cascade over towering granite cliffs and descend to the calm waters of the fjord. The thundering waterfalls, snow-capped mountains, lakes and crystalline glaciers, inspired Henrik Ibsen's dramatic masterpiece, "Brand."

Lake Hornindal

Over 1,600 feet deep, this crystal-clear lake is considered Europe's deepest lake. The road to the lake is called Panoramavegen, the panorama route, with great views of the north fjord.

Styrn Lake

Not far from Hellesylt, Stryn is a popular year-round destination for alpine enthusiasts. Its glacier-fed lake is nine miles long and is known for its turquoise color.

Jostedal National Park Center

This national park features 3-D exhibits of its glacial flows, flora and fauna. It’s also home to Briksdal Glacier, which runs nearly 4,000 feet down the mountainside to the lush Briksdal Valley.
