Island of Roatan, Honduras
As you sail into Roatan's sparkling new Mahogany Cruise Center, you'll know you are in for a unique and distinctly Caribbean experience. This island paradise is surrounded by over 60 miles of protected, living reef that provides shelter to thousands of species of fish and marine life. The interior offers tropical jungles and curious upright moving "Jesus" lizards, as well as brilliantly colored macaws and parrots.
Mahogany Beach
The moment you step ashore in the new cruise port of Mahogany Bay, you'll find shops, restaurants and bars. There's also a ski-style chair-lift that will transport you over tree tops to pristine Mahogany Beach, where you'll find a resort setting with a children's play area, beach cabanas and crystal clear waters.
Gumbalimba Preservation Park
At Gumbalimba Preservation Park, delight in watching the free-flying scarlet macaws, hold a juvenile monkey, explore a re-creation of a pirate cave, and roam through the Botanical Garden and learn about many of the indigenous plants of this region.
Sandy Bay
Sandy Bay is the cultural center of Roatan. Among the places to visit are the Roatan Museum, Institute of Marine Sciences, the Carambola Gardens and Marine Reserve.
