Getting Ready to Go

Passport Requirements

TRAVEL DOCUMENTS
There are two categories of travel documents that are required to sail, Princess-issued documents and government issued travel documents which prove your identity and citizenship, such as a passport.

I. PRINCESS DOCUMENT REQUIREMENTS
Princess eTicket Boarding Pass and Travel Summary verifies your passenger status throughout the embarkation process, from port security to cruise check-in. Your Boarding Pass may be printed only if you have completed all required Passenger Information more than 6 days prior to sailing. By presenting your Boarding Pass at cruise check-in, you’ll experience an expedited check-in. If you have not completed all required information in advance, please print your Travel Summary to carry with you to embarkation. Ensure you arrive to check-in no later than 90-minutes prior to sailing or you could be denied boarding.

II. PASSPORT REQUIREMENTS
The countries visited during your cruise have specific document requirements for cruise ship passengers. These requirements include passport, visa and vaccination certificates where applicable. Requirements will vary based on the ports visited as well as on your citizenship. Please note that it is your sole responsibility to obtain and have available the proper travel and health documents that are necessary for air travel, cruise check-in and disembarkation at the various ports of call and for re-entry into the appropriate country of origin. If you do not possess the proper documentation you will be denied boarding without any refund of the cruise or cruisetour fare.

A. U.S. AND CANADIAN CITIZENS AND PERMANENT RESIDENTS
Travel document requirements vary based on the cruise destination and whether international flights are required. Please review the section below to determine the requirements for your cruise. Cruise specific information may also be found in the Cruise Personalizer under ”Notifications” in “Your Itinerary”section.

1) Passports are required for all international air travel to and from the United States, regardless of age and citizenship. This includes air travel to and from Canada, Bermuda, the Caribbean, and Mexico.

2) Passports are required for all international cruises including: Africa, Asia, Australia, Central & South America, Europe, India, New Zealand, South Pacific and Tahiti. Additionally, Caribbean and Panama Canal cruises that embark and/or disembark in non-U.S. ports will require passports.

3) As of June 1, 2009, Passports or Western Hemisphere Travel Initiative (WHTI) compliant documents are required for domestic cruises including: Alaska, Bermuda, Canada, Caribbean, Hawaii, Mexico and Panama Canal. Neither oral nor written declarations of citizenship are accepted. If your cruise or cruisetour travel is completed prior to June 1, 2009, please select here for passport requirements.

a) U.S. and Canadian citizens ages 16 and above traveling on domestic cruises may present one of the following valid WHTI-compliant documents:

Passport Book RECOMMENDED travel document; accepted for travel by air, land and sea
US Passport Card Limited to land and sea border crossings
Enhanced Driver’s License (EDL) Limited to land and sea border crossings
NEXUS Card Accepted for land and sea border crossings. Air travel is limited to participating
airports. For more information visit www.cbp.gov
SENTRI and FAST Cards Limited to land and sea border crossings

For information regarding WHTI compliant documents, please visit www.getyouhome.gov.

b) U.S. and Canadian citizens ages 15 years and younger may present an original or copy of their birth certificate, a naturalization certificate or citizenship card in lieu of the above WHTI compliant documents on Domestic sailings only.

c) U.S. citizens traveling on U.S. roundtrip or “closed-loop” voyages may also travel with an original certified Birth Certificate presented together with a valid government-issued photo identification. In the event the names on these documents do not match due to a name change, please ensure to present appropriate legal documentation to support the name change. In this case, the name on the booking should match the name on the valid government-issued photo identification.

U.S. domestic roundtrip sailings must embark and disembark in the same U.S. port. These voyages include:

Alaska roundtrip from San Francisco or Seattle (roundtrip Seattle Cruisetours excluded)
Canada/New England roundtrip from New York
Caribbean roundtrip from Fort Lauderdale, New York or San Juan
Hawaii roundtrip from Los Angeles
Mexico roundtrip from Los Angeles or San Francisco
Panama Canal roundtrip from Fort Lauderdale or Los Angeles

Please be aware that even if your cruise does not require a passport to sail, in the event of an emergency should you be required to unexpectedly depart a vessel prior to the end of the cruise, a passport would be required to disembark the ship in a foreign country and re-enter the U.S. by air. We therefore strongly recommend that all passengers are in possession of a valid passport.

d) U.S. Permanent Residents are required to present a valid valid permanent resident document. See below for acceptable documents:

Permanent Resident Card (ARC/I-55 card)
Temporary ARC/I-55 card and valid government issued photo identification
Expired ARC/I-55 card and form I-797 and valid government issued photo identification
Passport with “ARC” stamp in the passport

If air travel to or from the U.S. is required, please verify with your airline carrier if a passport will be required to fly.

e) Canadian Permanent Residents are required to provide a valid passport and valid Permanent Resident Card. Additionally, Permanent Residents must have a nonimmigrant visa unless the permanent resident is a national of a country that participates in the Visa Waiver Program (VWP), and meets the VWP requirements.

B. NON-U.S. AND NON-CANADIAN CITIZENS
Passports are required for all cruises, regardless of destination.

1) Requirements for Visa Waiver Program (VWP) Country Passport Holders
For cruises calling to the U.S., you must have an electronic Passport (biometric or e-Passport ) if your passport was issued on or after October 26, 2006. Passports issued as of October 26, 2005 must contain a digital photograph unless it is an e-passport. Passports issued as of July 26, 2005 must be machine-readable. Effective May 30, 2009, all VWP counties’ emergency and temporary passports are subject to the e-passport requirement. If you are traveling with an emergency or temporary passport that is not an e-passport, you will not be permitted to travel under the Visa Waiver Program to the U. S. For more information go to www.dhs.gov.

The e-passport requirement does not apply to nationals or citizens of non-VWP countries that travel
on non-immigrant visas or for whom visas are not required for travel to the United States.

Visa Waiver Program Countries: Andorra, Australia, Austria, Belgium, Brunei, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Iceland, Ireland, Italy, Japan, Latvia, Lithuania, Liechtenstein, Luxembourg, Hungary, Malta, Monaco, the Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Portugal, Republic of Korea, San Marino, Singapore, Slovak Republic, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, and the United Kingdom

Visas

Visa requirements for U.S. and Canadian citizens are listed on your pre-cruise letter or Travel Summary (if applicable). All other nationalities including those with U.S. or Canadian resident status are responsible for verifying visa requirements for each port visited during the cruise.

IMPORTANT: Visa and documentation requirements vary by destination and do change from time to time without prior notice. Be sure to check with the consulate of each country you will visit, or a visa service to verify current regulations. It is your responsibility to have proper travel documentation. Please reconfirm visa requirements 5-7 days prior to your cruise.

Documents For Passengers Under The Age Of 18

Several countries require special documentation for children traveling without both parents; these requirements are subject to change without notice. It is your responsibility to ensure that you possess the proper documents for all of the countries that you will visit. Please verify requirements with the immigration offices prior to your cruise.

Vaccinations

Information regarding required vaccinations for your cruise or cruisetour is listed on your pre-cruise letter or Travel Summary (if applicable).

IMPORTANT: Vaccination requirements vary by destination and do change from time to time. Please check with your travel agent or contact the United States Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) at wwwn.cdc.gov/travel/default.aspx to verify current regulations.

Customs Regulations

To avoid having to pay customs tax on previously-owned property upon re-entry, U.S. residents should have a receipt for, or should register with customs prior to departure, their foreign-made cameras, expensive jewelry, video cameras, radios, and other electronic equipment. Customs will issue a certificate of ownership, so you can avoid duty and taxes upon your return. For details, write to the Department of the Treasury, U.S. Customs Service, Washington, D.C. 20229 for a copy of "Know Before You Go". Canadian residents can write to the Customs Office, 333 Dunsmuir Street, Vancouver, B.C. V6B 5R4 for a copy of "I Declare" or can contact their local customs office.

Security

At Princess Cruises, we take the safety and security of our passengers and crew very seriously and have one of the largest security operations in the industry. We continually review the security situations at every port we visit. Sometimes, we reschedule a port call to another location for a variety of reasons, and we beg your indulgence in this regard.

Princess Cruises also prides itself on applicable maritime security regulations designed to safeguard each and every voyage. All passengers are required to submit their names and personal data to Princess prior to embarkation and are also asked to leave any questionable items at home. No weapons or articles which could be used as weapons will be allowed onboard and all passengers and luggage/carry-on items are subject to screening prior to boarding the ship. Princess strives to ensure that every passenger experiences a comfortable and worry-free vacation.

Pregnancy and Cruising

We have recently reviewed our pregnancy policy in light of current medical research on gestation risks and infant mortality outside of specialised neonatal intensive care units. As a result, pregnant women are only allowed to sail if pregnant for 24 weeks or less at the date of cruise disembarkation. All pregnant women are required to produce a doctor or midwife's letter stating that mother and baby are in good health, fit to travel and that the pregnancy is not high risk. The letter must also include the estimated date of delivery (EDD) calculated from both Last Menstrual Period (LMP) and ultrasound (if performed).

Health Matters

We recommend seasonal influenza vaccinations for all passengers. Furthermore, you are strongly urged to seek advice from your primary care physician or an approved public health advisory service to identify any specific vaccination or health precautions required for each port of call. For example, you may wish to reference the World Health Organization (WHO) (www.who.int/ith) or the United States Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) (wwwn.cdc.gov/travel/default.aspx). Some countries strictly enforce certain health requirements. Failure to comply may result in the local authorities preventing passengers from going ashore and some may impose a monetary fine or deny the ship entry into the port.

If you regularly take any medications, you are strongly advised to carry them in your hand luggage and to bring extra supplies to cover any unexpected circumstances. If you have received treatment for any significant medical condition, please carry a recent report along with any pertinent information from your treating physician.

We strongly recommend you review your health insurance coverage before cruising. Many policies, including Medicare, will not pay for services or hospitalization outside of the country or for emergency evacuation. If you did not buy Princess Travel CareSM, which is available for purchase up to the time of final payment of your cruise fare, we recommend that you secure other travel protection. For details on the plan, please contact the Princess Vacation Protection Help Line at 1-877-846-8833.

Princess AccessSM

Princess Cruises makes every effort to accommodate our passengers with disabilities. Have your travel agent notify us of your wheelchair usage and/or any special needs prior to sailing. We have wheelchair accessible staterooms on all Princess cruise ships. If you require a mobility device, you must provide your own. You can pre-reserve a wheelchair and have it and other medical equipment delivered to the ship by contacting Special Needs at 1-800-513-4515 or at www.specialneedsatsea.com. When bringing your own wheelchair, we highly recommend collapsible wheelchairs, as the width of the stateroom doors varies. Some Princess ships have areas that are not wheelchair accessible.

Accessibility varies widely on pre- and post-cruise land tours and hotel packages. Not all providers have lift-equipped transportation options and when available, arrangements must be secured in advance. The maximum weight of the wheelchair and the guest cannot exceed 600 lbs on transportation lifts. For pre- or post-cruise land tours, please contact the Access Office at 1-661-284-4521 with questions or concerns. You may also fax your request to the Access Office at 1-661-284-4408.

If you have purchased a Princess Transfer at the start or end of the cruise, be aware that lift-equipped transportation may not be available in your port of embarkation or disembarkation. Arrangements must be secured in advance by contacting the Access Office as soon as possible.

Passengers utilizing mobility devices with batteries are advised that the batteries must be a dry cell type and must be stored and recharged in the stateroom. Mobility devices of any kind, like other items, may not be left outside the stateroom.

Because we are not staffed with specially-trained personnel to assist passengers with physical challenges, we recommend you be accompanied by someone who is physically able to assist you both onboard and on shore if necessary. Travelers with disabilities should check in with the onboard Tour Office to ensure all pre-reserved tours can accommodate their needs. Not all port facilities are accessible for those using mobility devices. Ports of call may be accessed by a variety of methods including, but not limited to, a ramped gangway, series of steps or by tender. In some cases, you may be able to access the tender; however, the shore side facility is not accessible. With your safety and comfort in mind, the decision to permit or prohibit passengers from going ashore will be made on each occasion by the ship's Captain, and the decision is final. Those ports which normally use tenders to access the shore are noted on the itinerary.

In many ports of call, a mechanism known as a "stair climber" is used to assist passengers up and down the gangway. This requires that passengers transfer to a Princess wheelchair which is then connected to the stair climber and operated by the ship's personnel. If you cannot transfer or your personal mobility device cannot be easily disembarked due to size or weight, you may be precluded from going ashore.

If you are traveling with a service animal, please be aware that Princess requires a written notice in advance. Entry regulations vary from port to port, and there are some ports that prohibit the landing of animals altogether. Passengers are advised to consult the local authorities at each port of call prior to departure for the necessary documentation. Princess does not provide food for service animals. The choice of dog litter material is limited and varies by ship and location.

Princess ships are equipped with "All-In-One Kits" including a TTY that can be placed in most passenger cabins and arranged at Princess Wilderness Lodges. Additionally, all televisions onboard provide closed captioning and most onboard theaters are equipped with assistive listening devices. Electric outlets in most staterooms are limited to one and it is helpful to travel with an extension cord if you are using electrical equipment. Princess is pleased to have available JAWS Professional software with a KOSS-TD/80 headset available on one terminal in each Internet Café on every Princess cruise ship.
