Carnival Corporation has announced a voluntary refund of the fuel supplement for bookings that were made prior to November 7, 2007, under an agreement with the Florida Attorney General's Office.
The company's North American brands, including Princess Cruises, will now refund the fuel supplement for those guests who were already booked at the time the supplement was announced. Refunds for affected passengers will be implemented based on their cruise departure date according to the following schedule:
For all new bookings effective April 21, 2008, the Carnival Corporation brands will implement an increased fuel supplement of $7 (USD) per person per day for the first two passengers, and $2 per person per day for third and fourth passengers. The fuel supplements will not exceed $98 per person per voyage for the first and second passengers, and $28 per person per voyage for the third and fourth passengers in a stateroom.
For bookings made from November 7, 2007 to April, 20, 2008, the original fuel supplement of $5 per person per day will apply.
The fuel supplement is necessitated by significant and continuing rises in fuel prices which have dramatically increased Carnival Corporation's operating costs. We hope that our passengers will understand that implementing a fuel supplement is a necessary step in today's economic environment.
