Tour Overview
Your fully narrated motorcoach drive through the charming city of Victoria gives way to the lovely Saanich Peninsula and the celebrated Butchart Gardens. A National Heritage Park, this veritable Eden celebrates over 100 years in bloom. Guide maps in multiple languages direct you on a self-guided tour through the themed gardens and winding paths that make up this jewel of Vancouver Island.
Your independent 1-hour tour includes such highlights as the Italian, Japanese and Rose gardens, linked by rolling lawns and lily ponds. The "Sunken Garden," often a favorite, was once an abandoned limestone quarry now transformed into a landscaped wonder. Independently, you may take a ride on the Rose Carousel, a menagerie of wild animals selected by the Garden's owners and handcrafted by skilled artisans. If you wish, enjoy a gelato and relax on the lawn before continuing on to one of the garden's premier attractions, a classic afternoon tea service.
A welcomed respite in your day, traditional Afternoon Tea is served in the historical surroundings of the Butchart family residence. Fresh, locally grown food is elegantly served in the main restaurant, which overlooks the Private Garden. Warm delicacies, savory tea sandwiches and homemade sweets accompany traditional English teas.
On completion of your refreshment, walk back through the gardens to your waiting motorcoach for a scenic drive back to port.
