Tour Overview
Your journey begins at the pier where you'll board your air-conditioned motorcoach. From Lahaina, we'll travel up country on a scenic drive, passing sugar cane fields, pineapple plantations and panoramic views of the island for Haleakala National Park Headquaters. Re-board the motorcoach and continue on a circuitous road that meanders uphill for miles until reaching Haleakala National Park. Explore the visitor's center and gift shop before we travel to the crater's rim.
Last erupting in 1790, the volcano's massive crater is over seven-miles long and three-miles wide. The crater floor is located 3,000 feet below the rim and dotted with plant life and cinder cones. Enjoy the breathtaking view from the crater's rim. After seeing Haleakala at sunrise, Mark Twain was moved to write: "It was the sublimest spectacle I ever witnessed."
Enjoy an sandwich or salad lunch before we re-board the motorcoach for the return route back to the ship.
