Tour Overview

Your excursion begins at the pier where you'll board your motorcoach and travel through Funchal. Pass the picturesque fishing village of Camara de Lobos, a favorite haunt of Sir Winston Churchill's in the 1950s, en route to Cabo Girao.

Travel past vineyards, terraced fields, and pinewoods and eucalyptus groves to the cliff top of Cabo Girao. This second-highest sea cliff in the world is a sheer drop of over 1,500 feet from the top to the waves below. The viewpoint affords dramatic views of the coast and Funchal in the distance.

Continue to the embroidery factory where you'll learn that hand-stitched embroidery has long been one of Madeira's exports, and is as acclaimed as the island's wine. Tour the factory for a first-hand look how this intricate embroidery is made. Then, enjoy a glass of Madeira wine. You'll have a chance to browse the showroom afterwards.

Return to Funchal via the viewpoint of Pico dos Barcelos for panoramic views of Funchal with its red-tiled roofs.
