Tour Overview
Board your motorcoach at the pier and we'll take the coastal road, traveling through the fertile farmland of the Fnjoskadalur Valley en route to your first attraction: Godafoss Waterfall.
In the year 1000 at the Godafoss Waterfall, Thorgeir Thorkelsson and the Icelandic parliament, or Althing, decreed the island would convert to Christianity. Thorkelsson then commemorated the event by hurling his pagan idols into the cataract.
Next, you'll head to the Botanical Garden, which was established in 1912. This lush garden is home to an impressive collection of flora, with more than 2,000 species. The specimens range from Icelandic natives to plants and trees gathered from all around the world. Stroll the gardens and don't forget to bring your camera as the photo opportunities are boundless.
Afterwards, re-board the motorcoach and head back to Akureyri for a brief tour of the town. You'll pause along a scenic coastal road for a panoramic view of the town and its harbor before heading back to the ship.
