Main port photo for Seychelles Islands (Mahe)

The turquoise waters of the Indian Ocean lap against white-sand beaches while palm fronds sway overhead. Welcome to Mahe Island in the heart of the Seychelles, a demi-paradise on Earth. Composed of over 115 islands, the Seychelles archipelago is divided into two groups: the inner and the outer isles. The outer isles are low-lying coral islets covered with palm trees. The inner islands Curieuse, Fregate, Cousin, La Digue, Praslin and Mahe are granite bastions covered with lush tropical vegetation. Today 80,000 people reside in the Seychelles. The capital is Victoria on Mahe Island. With a population of 23,000 people, Victoria is one of the smallest capital cities in the world.

Located in the far reaches of the Indian Ocean, the Seychelles archipelago has developed its own unique wildlife, safe from incursions by modern man.
