Developed as Cambodia's sole deepwater port in 1964, Sihanoukville - the former Kampong Som - has become a jealously guarded secret of savvy travelers. This still pristine resort on the Gulf of Thailand boasts beautiful beaches and crystalline waters. Offshore islands offer excellent dive sites and some of the world's finest big game fishing. Sihanoukville is also renowned for its excellent cuisine featuring superb seafood.

Sihanoukville is located on a peninsula some 155 miles southwest of Phnom Penh.

  • Wat Krom & Wat Leu -

    Two of Sihanoukville's temples include Wat Krom or "lower wat," which lies on a small hill on Santipheap St. overlooking the ocean. Wat Leu or "upper wat" overlooks town from the top of its mountain.

    Sihanoukville the picturesque town off the Gulf of Thailand offers idyllic white-sand beaches with upscale resort hotels where you can snorkel, scuba dive and enjoy fresh seafood.

  • Ream National Park -

    This park is home to more than 150 species of birds, monkeys, mangroves, tropical jungles, and a marine habitat. Also in the park is Wat Ream, a temple with a huge reclining Buddha.

    Located near the city of Siem Reap, gateway to Angkor Wat, this street market is very popular and attracts large crowds. The vendors sell all kinds of things from local crafts to souvenirs.
