Bequia, Grenadine Islands

Bequia is the largest island in the chain of islands commonly referred to as the Grenadines, which in turn are part of St. Vincent. Long known to sailors, today Bequia is being discovered by travelers seeking that slow pace of life that is becoming harder and harder to find in the Caribbean. Bequia's long seafaring heritage is a common thread of the long time residents. Practically every Bequia family has some connection to the sea whether it is from fishing, boat building, or whaling. Bequia is blessed with many beautiful beaches, the most famous being the Princess Margaret Beach located just outside the main town of Port Elizabeth. Bequia is also known for the eclectic residential area of "Moonhole" whose "Flinstonesque" houses are molded to the landscape and made of local stone, wood, and anything else that happens to float up on the beach.

Note: Bequia is an anchorage port, passengers transfer to shore via ship's tender.
