Once you leave the pier, it's a short, uphill drive along the north coast to Dunn's River Falls, considered one of Jamaica's national treasures. After you disembark, you'll follow a path and stairway that leads down to the base of the falls. You'll marvel at the 600-foot high waterfall as the sparkling water cascades over natural stepping platforms that allow you to climb from the bottom to the top. Guides are provided to assist you when ascending the rushing water as it plunges into the pristine Caribbean Sea.
After this invigorating experience, you'll head to Dolphin Cove. A refreshing drink is offered to you when you arrive at this lush paradise, which is home to a pod of playful and lively dolphins. Your Dolphin Encounter begins with an introduction to the bottlenose dolphin through an informative presentation by the trainers. Then, step in for an incredible personal encounter with your own dolphin friend. (For the dolphin's protection and to keep the water clear of chemicals, it's advised that you not wear sunscreen or sun block of any kind.) Thrill to the experience of being in the water with this playful animal and the opportunity to splash, frolic, share a kiss and enjoy a 'belly ride' though the waters.
After watching the dolphins at play, you're free to go on a jungle walk for an up-close experience with tropical animals such as iguanas and parrots, visit the bird aviary and feed the colorful free-flying lovebirds, or interact with exotic sea creatures in the touch tank display. Learn to make your own pottery over at Wassi Arts or watch in amazement as a local wood carver makes ordinary pieces of wood come to life.
Be sure to visit 'Little Port Royal,' a replica of Jamaica's most famous pirate city. Have your camera handy, you never know when you'll encounter buccaneers or pirate bootie as you walk through this re-creation of a 17th century pirate paradise. Browse through the largest gift shops of any attraction in Jamaica for souvenirs, jewelry and locally handcrafted items. Local delicacies, liquors, and spices are for sale, as well as cups of the world famous Blue Mountain coffee at Dolphin Cove's Star Buccaneer's Coffee Shop.
Over at the shark lagoon, you'll see pirates putting on a rambunctious and hilarious show while they feed, touch and swim with Caribbean sharks.
Then, it's time to head back to the pier, but if you would like to extend your time at Dolphin Cove, you can take one of the shuttle buses that run frequently throughout the day back to port.
