Your excursion begins at the pier where you'll board a shuttle that will transfer you to your minibus in Sorrento. Travel along the stunning Amalfi coast. Your drive passes through the gorges of the Furore Valley and across the rocky slopes of the Lateran Mountain to the charming hillside town of Positano. The whitewashed pastel-colored houses that dot the hillside are the subject of many postcards and photo albums. Positano boasts elegant designer boutiques, luxury shops and seaside cafes. You'll have free time to explore the main square and shop.
Here you will sit-down for lunch to a five-star hotel restaurant using seasonal ingredients of the Campania region.
Afterwards it's on to the ruins of Pompeii. The route to Pompeii affords even more dramatic views as it winds through the coastal mountains via the Agerola road. Upon arrival at Pompeii you'll enter by the sea gate where you'll embark on a guided walking tour of the excavated area. See the remarkably preserved remains of the city's baths, villas, theaters and wrestling grounds that hint at their daily lives.
This UNESCO World Heritage Site uncovers excavations of a lost city buried deep beneath the ash when Mt. Vesuvius violently erupted in 79 A.D. Plaster casts mark the positions of the fallen that were swiftly overcome. The city was entombed, preserving a moment in time more than 2,000 years ago.
Your return route follows the coast to Sorrento for the shuttle transfer back to the pier where your cruise ship awaits.
The roads of the Amalfi Coast are narrow and winding. Passengers who suffer from motion sickness should take this into account.
Passengers may be required to stand during the shuttle transfer from the pier to the motorcoach landing terminal.
During the month of November and December, due to low season, most of the shops will be closed in Positano.
This tour does not operate in December.
