Nutella + chocolate = Love! Treat your sweetheart to this delicious Chocolate Journeys recipe.
3/4 cup Brown sugar
1-1/4 cups Butter, unsalted
1 cup Sugar, granulated
3 Eggs, whole
1 cup All purpose Flour
1/2 tsp Salt
1/8 tsp Nutmeg
1 tsp Baking soda
1/4 cup Milk, whole
3/4 tsp Vanilla extract
1/4 cup Pecans, toasted
1 1/4 cups Chocolate Frosting, purchased (or made from scratch)
1/2 cup Vanilla Frosting purchased (or made from scratch)
1/4 cup Nutella hazelnut spread
Peanut Butter Frosting:
1 cup Vanilla Frosting, purchased (or made from scratch)
1/8 cup Peanut Butter
Mix butter, sugar and brown sugar until creamy; add eggs one at a time. Mix thoroughly. Then add bananas and mix well. In a separate bowl combine flour, salt, nutmeg, baking soda and mix well. Add to butter mixture and stir until combined. Add milk and stir well. Add pecans. Butter and flour 1- 9” cake pans and pour batter into the pan. Spread with knife for smooth surface. Bake at 350F for 30 minutes or until tester comes out clean. Remove and let cool completely. Remove from pan.
Combine Nutella spread and vanilla frosting in a small bowl. Mix well and set aside. In another bowl, combine vanilla frosting and room temperature peanut butter, mix well.
Slice cooled cake into 2 even slices using long slicer knife. Place first round onto cake plate and top with a thin layer of Nutella frosting, peanut butter frosting and chocolate frosting.
Add second layer of cake and frost top and sides completely with chocolate frosting. Pipe remaining Nutella frosting using a piping bag into dollops on top of cake as per picture.
Add pecans to cake sides and enjoy!
