The island of Dominica isn't one of the most recognizable hotspots in the Caribbean, but that's exactly what makes it so enjoyable. You'll have the chance to explore this small yet vibrant island nation when your Caribbean cruise stops here.
Dominica, not to be confused with the Dominican Republic, is located between the islands of Guadeloupe and Martinique. One of the best things about this small getaway is the fact that it's mostly unspoiled. You'll be able to experience nature in all it's glory.
The best place on the island to do this is probably Morne Trois Pitons National Park, which is designated as an UNESCO World Heritage Site. This truly remarkable rainforest is home to some of the most stunning sights that this country has to offer, including the breathtaking Emerald Pool, a famous grotto that has been featured in several films. Be sure to continue on to view Trafalgar Falls, where you can even take a dip in the water.
Another way to experience this island's natural beauty is via adventure excursions. Whether you're exploring the jungle on a four-wheel drive safari or cruising down a river in a kayak or inner tube, there's multiple ways to enjoy this island paradise. Back out on the open water, you'll have the option of snorkeling at Champagne Reef or heading out on a whale watching tour.
