Adventure, culture and more on the island of Barbados
Posted Feb 17, 2011
The beautiful island of Barbados is a sight that should not be missed by travelers on a Caribbean cruise, as the multiple excursions available here offer something for everyone.
Adventure travelers can explore the island via Jeep when they book a 4x4 safari tour. This trip will take guests to some of the most scenic locations on the island, as the convoy of 4x4s traipses through Joe's River Forest and the dazzling rock formations of Bathsheba. Along the way, the guide will give travelers some insight into traditional Barbados culture and folklore.
Those who want less adventure and more culture may enjoy the "Taste of Barbados" scenic drive. A more-relaxed trip than the safari, this tour will allow travelers to see some of the island's more historic sites, like the Houses of Parliament, National Heroes Square and Christ Church Parish Church. Perhaps the highlight of the trip is the actual "taste" of Barbados, as you'll be served a grand four-course meal that will allow you to sample many of the island's traditional dishes.
Finally, those who just want to relax can take advantage of Barbados' beautiful coast. A half-day leisurely cruise on a catamaran will take you to a secluded spot where you can snorkel among turtles. It will also allow you a chance to simply relax or take a walk along the beautiful white sand beaches.
